Universal Audio LA-2A Studio Compressor Reviews 5

The Universal Audio LA-2A is a classic studio compressor with a very natural compression. I am a student, musician, writer, and pretty good line dancer residing in beautiful Nashville, TN. I've been a drummer and guitar player for the past 10 years of my life and have began engineering and producing in the past 4. I currently play drums for the band Brookline and you can see me rockin' an Orange County Drum and Percussion or Mapex kit decked out with Zildjian K Hybrids.

We purchased the UA LA-2A about 3 years ago for our private studio for right around $3,000. We were looking to build our library of outboard equipment and no studio is complete without and LA-2A.

The LA-2A offers a more natural compression than you will find in any other high-end outboard compressor. Nothing!

A very solid build. Obviously, this is a tube compressor and needs to pick up and set down gently. As long as this hunk of beauty is secured in rack it will do just fine.

Bottom Line? If you want to have a serious studio and provide the best to your clients, or spoil yourself, the LA-2A is a must have. Run vocals, guitars, bass, kick, snare, toms, children, pizza..anything through it and I guarantee you will be happy.
